WHOOPER is a Web application for Hands-On identification of proteins co-Occurrence among Phyla, focused on user ERgonomic.
WHOOPER is web application which combines HHsearch‑based detection of distant homologs with an interactive and user‑friendly analysis environment. WHOOPER makes it possible to align proteins of interest simultaneously against hundreds of proteomes, visualize the results in their phylogenetic context, explore and dynamically filter them using metadata (phylogeny, identity, size, genomic location, annotation), and easily select and export relevant results for downstream analyses.
A public instance of WHOOPER is deployed on the Migale platform and currently enables the screening of more than 7,500 reference proteomes from eukaryotes, bacteria, and archaea.
The code for Whopper is available on github.
