I will discuss the importance of the number of replicates on the power and reproducibility of omics analysis and how this can affect the biological interpretation of data. I will illustrate this discussion using the differential analysis of RNA-seq data in plants. I will also present a few simulations showing that the often-decried "lack of reproducibility" is partly explained by the use of too few samples.
